FrameMaster - Building Ornate Frames

  • Step 1.   FrameMaster builds a complete frame by taking a small section of a frame and then auto-generates the rest.   When building an Ornate frame you only need to build the upper middle frame section of the complete frame (see diagram).

  • Step 2.   Using a graphics editor, tweak the frame (just the part that represents upper middle section) so that it is perfectly square (usually a width/height of 50 pixels is fine).   If the height and width are not identical the frame will not look correct.

  • Step 3.   To make the frame seamless, you will need to do a couple of things.   For a professional looking frame, the top edge and the bottom edge of the frame section should be seamless.   Similarly the right and left edges should be seamless.   Using a a graphics editor like Paint Shop Pro, you can make the top edge seamless by select top edge with the "selection tool" and then applying a "flip" operation. Now paste the flipped selection to the bottom half of the frame section.   Similarly, you can select the left edge and then apply the "mirror" operation.   Now paste the mirrored selection to the right edge.   Your frame should now be seamless.

  • Step 4.   Save the ornate frame as Bitmap file with a name such as _ORNxxxx.bmp (where xxxx = a sequence number).   Make sure you select a number that isn't being used already.   Select a sequence greater than 200 so that it does not conflict with any existing ornate frames.

  • Step 5.   If you want to create an ornate frame where the corners do NOT meet at a 45 degree angle then you will need to save the ornate frame with a different name.   Use a name such as CLIPxxxx.bmp (where xxxx = the sequence number).

  • Finally, copy the Bitmap file to the ORNATE subdirectory (ex. c:\Program Files\FrameMaster2\Ornate).
