JPhotoViewer TECHNICAL INFORMATION
What is the applet's purpose?
JPhotoViewer is a compact yet powerful tool for presenting photos and text
in a browser-based environment.
JPhotoViewer is extremely efficient in displaying large collections
of photos and text.   It also gives you the ability to create a slide show.
JPhotoViewer is not a complete HTML solution.   A user must have
some rudimentary HTML skills including the ability to build the web page
that embodies the applet.

Who is the intended audience?
JPhotoViewer was designed to be an indispensable tool for web developers
and HTML enthusiasts.
End users who have a good understanding of
HTML and are comfortable with uploading documents to a remote web server can
also use the applet.
  The Photo Collection Editor
alleviates the tedious task of generating the Photo Collection File and
and building the JPhotoViewer APPLET TAG.
that is used by the applet.

What features does it have?

JPhotoViewer
includes the following features:
A java-based photo album that is complete with navigation buttons.
The ability to attach
text annotations to photos.
Slide-show capabilities with a user-defined delay interval.
Various transition effects when the user selects a new photo.
Text overlays
which allow you to put text directly on top of photos.   The text overlays can also be used like a watermark.
Photo scaling, photos are scaled to fit in the applet, there is no need to crop photos.
The ability to select a tiled background for the applet.
An On-Click URL can be specified for each photo.
Easily customize colors, fonts, size of the applet.
View/Hide photo viewer components.
Security for web images.   Photos can't be downloaded.
A Photo Collection Editor
(Windows only), that allows you to quickly organize photos.

How do I organize the photos and text?
For Windows users, a Photo Collection Editor is provided.
This Photo Collection Editor simplifies the process of building a
photo collection file.   In this GUI based environment, the user can select photos and
make text annotations.
For non Windows users, a simple text editor can be used to modify the photo
collection file (which is actually a
script file with a small set of commands).

How large is the applet and how long will it take to load?
The applet itself is very small, less than 20K in size.
The applet will load very quickly even with slower connections.

How easy is it to deploy the applet on my web server?
For Windows users the task is very simple.   Using the
Photo Collection Editor,
select the photos, insert the text annotations,
and tweak the applet configuration parameters using the GUI.
  After this is done,
you can preview the applet locally.
If you are satisfied with the results,
you can then generate a deployment directory containing all the
relevant files.   Now simply upload
everything in the deployment directory to your web server.
For manual deployment, the process consists of uploading the
applet, JPhotoViewer.jar, the photo collection file (.ALB), the HTML file
that includes the APPLET TAG, and all the photos in the collection.
Using the manual process, the most difficult process involves setting
up the URLs to the photos on the web server.   It is
strongly recommended that the applet, HTML file, and photo collection file
all reside in the same directory.

How much does it cost?
The cost of JPhotoViewer is $15.95.   A purchased license will
provide the buyer with
unlimited use of JPhotoViewer for personal and/or commercial use.
The buyer will be able to deploy the applet on multiple web servers without
any limitations.
The unregistered version of JPhotoViewer limits the user to thirty photos
whereas the licensed version has no such limitation.
Registration also means that you can now define your
own links for each photo, the unregisterd version always links to www.galleriasoftware.com.
